Privacy Policy
This is the privacy policy for votechrisjustin.com, the website of Friends of Chris Justin, the principal campaign committee for Chris Justin's 2026 campaign for Louisiana Public Service Commission, District 1.
We try to keep this in plain English. If anything here is unclear, write to us at media@votechrisjustin.com and we'll explain.
What we collect
We collect a small amount of information directly from you, plus standard technical information that your browser sends to most websites.
You give us:
- Sign-up information when you sign up through any form on this site: your name and email, and optionally your phone number and ZIP code. If you tell us you want to help the campaign, we also collect the ways you'd like to help (for example, hosting a yard sign, volunteering, attending events, or sharing on social media) and any details you choose to add for a specific role — such as a mailing address for yard-sign delivery or a social media handle.
- Donation information when you donate through Anedot — name, mailing address, email, phone (optional), payment information, and (for contributions at or above legal-reporting thresholds) employer and occupation. Anedot processes the payment; we receive contributor information for our records and for required campaign-finance reporting.
- Any message you send to info@votechrisjustin.com or media@votechrisjustin.com, including the email address you sent it from.
Your browser tells us:
- Standard server-log information — IP address, user agent, request URL, timestamp — collected by our hosting provider for security and uptime monitoring.
- Information collected by cookies and tracking pixels described in "Cookies and analytics" below.
How we use it
- Campaign updates — if you sign up, we send periodic newsletters and updates about Chris's positions, events, and the campaign. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every campaign email.
- Volunteer and supporter coordination — if you tell us you want to help, we use the details you provide (including phone and ZIP, if given) to follow up about volunteering, yard signs, events, and other ways to get involved. If you provide a phone number, a member of the campaign may call you; we will not enroll you in automated or recurring text messages without first getting your express consent.
- Donation processing and acknowledgments — to process your contribution, send a receipt, and stay in touch about the campaign.
- Required reporting — Louisiana and federal law require us to report contributor information for contributions at or above certain thresholds. That information becomes part of the public campaign-finance record filed with the Louisiana Board of Ethics.
- Measurement and improvement — to understand which pages, ads, and emails people engage with so we can spend campaign resources wisely.
- Responding to you — when you write to us, we use your message to respond.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses the following measurement and advertising tools. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Google Analytics 4 (loaded through Google Tag Manager) — measures aggregate traffic patterns and how visitors interact with the site.
- Meta Pixel — used to measure the performance of Facebook and Instagram ads run by the campaign, to build audiences of past visitors so we can show them follow-up ads, and to look for similar audiences to reach. The Meta Pixel sends Meta (Facebook) information about pages you visit on this site and may match that information against your Facebook or Instagram account. Information you submit through a Meta lead form is sent to the campaign through Meta's lead-ads infrastructure.
You can control or limit these tools by:
- Installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Adjusting your Facebook ad preferences at facebook.com/ds/preferences.
- Blocking third-party cookies or using a tracking-protection browser feature.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the vendors and authorities listed here.
- Mailchimp (Intuit) — email list management. Receives the name, email, and any phone, ZIP, and supporter-interest details you submit through a form on this site; tracks email opens and clicks.
- Campaign staff and authorized volunteers — supporter and volunteer information may be stored in the campaign's internal tools (such as Google Workspace) and shared with staff and authorized volunteers as needed to coordinate volunteering, events, and yard-sign delivery.
- Anedot — donation processing. Receives the contribution and payment information you provide on the donate page.
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram) — receives Pixel events from this site and Lead Form submissions if you submit one through a campaign ad.
- Google — Analytics, Tag Manager, and (if you reach us through a Google ad) ad-conversion measurement.
- Cloudways / DigitalOcean — web hosting; receives standard server-log information.
- Government agencies — the Louisiana Board of Ethics receives required campaign-finance reports as described above. We will also share information if compelled by a valid legal process or to protect against fraud or abuse.
How long we keep it
We keep contributor and supporter information for as long as the campaign committee exists and for any period required by Louisiana campaign-finance law. We keep subscriber email information until you unsubscribe (after which we may keep a suppression record so we don't accidentally re-add you).
Your rights
You can ask us to do any of the following by emailing media@votechrisjustin.com. Please include the email address you used so we can find your records.
- See what we have about you.
- Correct something that's wrong.
- Delete your information from our systems. (We can't always delete information we're required to keep for campaign-finance reporting — but we'll explain what's affected.)
- Unsubscribe from email — you can also click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any campaign email.
We process requests within 30 days and we won't penalize you for asking.
State privacy rights (CA, VA, CO, CT, UT and others)
If you live in a state with a comprehensive consumer-privacy law (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others), you have additional rights:
- The right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the sources, and the purposes.
- The right to access, correct, and delete that information.
- The right to opt out of "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Send a written request to media@votechrisjustin.com and we will suppress your information from advertising audiences.
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
If we deny a request, you have the right to appeal — email the same address with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has submitted information to us, please contact media@votechrisjustin.com and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever experience a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
International visitors
This site is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., information you submit is transferred to and stored in the U.S.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. We will note material changes here for at least 14 days before they take effect.
